McKenzie Mitchell, who revealed her departure today, has concluded her tenure with WWE. Previously serving as an interviewer for Impact Wrestling from May 2016 to January 2019, Mitchell joined WWE in September 2019. During her time with the company, she contributed to The Bump and worked as an interviewer in NXT.
Mitchell shared the following statement:
"Today I was released by WWE. I met my husband, moved cross country from CT to FL for @wwenxt (a place I’ve always considered home), and met friends that became like family. I’ve always said and firmly believe in “when door closes, another opens.”
The release seems to come out of nowhere. There wasn't talk that she was looking to leave WWE, nor any chatter of her being unhappy with her role. A number of wrestlers hopped on her social media feed after she posted the news and sent her messages of positively and love. Wade Barrett wrote, "You are one hell of a talent and friend, McKenzie." NXT star Carmello Hayes added, "you never missed! Irreplaceable." Bayley was clearly frustrated by the news, writing: "Damnit. I had such a good time sharing a locker room with you the last few house shows. You’ll be missed! Kick ass in whatever else you choose to do next."

AEW Quietly Releases The Bunny
Fans noticed The Bunny was missing from AEW's roster page, and apparently, the original has been released. The announcement follows a report by Wrestlenomics' Brandon Thurston stating that WWE, a part of TKO along with UFC, has let go of additional corporate employees on Friday. The exact number of employees affected and whether Mitchell's departure is connected to these layoffs remains undisclosed at this point.
Mitchell Looked Like She Had a Bright Future In WWE
Mitchell made one appearance on "WWE Raw," and "WWE SmackDown" but there was thought that maybe she could be used again down the line on the main roster. McKenzie remained associated with "NXT" until her release on Friday.
TheSporster would like to wish her the best of luck. She's too talented not to find something and she'll undoubtedly land on her feet.
